Greetings my friends, today I'm sharing a card that's a little out of my comfort zone. No florals, leaves or stamp layering. Part of my homework for this class is to create a monochromatic card, and that was what I had in mind when I started stamping. I'm a coffee lover, and this stamp seems to be speaking to me... "see what you can create with me". I learnt from the class that I should test out my Copic markers onto my cardstocks because they have a tendency to bleed. I did this and thought I could get away with it without using my watercolour cardstock. As you can see, it's only a small image to colour in.
I started to measure my card front in a 5 x 5 cm square, enough for my stamp and sentiment. I stamped the image and sentiment in different shades of brown, so it didn't look too uniform. I then masked the cups and sponged the lightest ink (Sand Dunes) through a stencil. I hand-drew in the gold lines for the squares. As for the cup, I coloured it with my Zig Clean Colour then applied Clear Wink Of Stella on top. I went over the opening of the cup with Glossy Accents for a more realistic look. I also hand-drew in the steam on top to give the latte some life. For the middle square, I heat embossed it and used a different sentiment for it to stand out. I also applied colour to the back of my vellum just how I was taught in class. I adhered the vellum on with Clear Glu Dots; the four enamel dots made my card look even more like a coffee billboard. I used my blending tool to ink the edges of the paper for a distressed look. Lastly, I mounted the card front on to brown cardstock and tied a small bow with gold thread for some shine.
I chose to colour my cup in a mix of yellow and orange for it to stand out. Although this means that my card would not be absolutely monochromatic, the colours that I chose stayed in the same shade of colours. This technique can go to show how I'm learning to apply multi - colours comfortably.
