Beyond Basic Backgrounds

Hi everyone, I'm so happy to continue on my journey to the next level.
The card above is all about ink blending and creating an ombre background. First, I blended the background in 3 distress colours on to the watercolour card front, then used a Misti to stamp my image. Instead of applying ink, I lightly spritzed the stamp with water and stamped the image on to the inked background. When water is applied on top of distress ink, it lifts the colour; this technique is called water bleaching. I repeated this step a few times until there was a clear image of the lifted ink. Next, I added a strip of a gold embossed sentiment and washi tape alongside.
I learnt from my class that simple styling works well on an ombre background, so I kept it at a minimal and attention can be focussed on the bleached technique. This stamp image is from a layering set at first I picked a thicker stamp but ended up deciding on the fine line stamp. Although I only chose one stamp for the background, I'm glad I chose this one as I think my results came out well and the warm ombré colours compliment them.

Atenew Supplies:
Crystal Frames Stamps, Regal Beauty Stamps, Golden Edge Washi Tape,
Other Supplies:
Watercolour Paper, White and Black Cardstock, Adhesive, Heat Gun, Misti, Distress Ink (Festive Berries, Picked Rasberry, Wild Honey), VersaMark Ink, Gold Embossing Powder.

Tips: Use a Misti to stamp images repeatedly for a deeper effect. Carefully wipe away any excess water around the stamp before stamping. Also make sure you hold your spritzer 20cm away so there are no big water droplets that would be visible on the card, and of course have patience.

Thank you until next time!
